A lovely morning
I went to the Se (the Cathedral in Funchal) for the 11.00 service.
It was wonderful. Everyone is so friendly, the music was superb, the church is always packed , and today the Bishop walked round as part of the service.
As I waited to go in, I called at Apolo, one of the oldest restaurants in Funchal (very good value and always full of locals - and beautifully modern loos). Instead of my usual pastel de nata I had a queijada (Madeiran cheesecake).
There were dozens and dozens, and dozens of Scouts and Guides carrying flags who went past as I waited.
A lovely atmosphere in the city.
Home tomorrow, Madeiran winds and assorted storms permitting.
Please don't worry about Suki. They love her at Edial cattery and she will be being spoilt rotten. I'm never sure if she sulks because she's missed me or because I've interrupted her fun......
