Skyfall
We've been very lucky as regards storm damage to trees (so far - it's still blowing a hoolie out there 24 hours later).
Less lucky on travel logistics. We've tickets for Handel's Messiah in Hereford cathedral tonight. I'm in Malvern, E's in Bristol, with a train ticket for a train that no longer exists. She can probably get to Abergavenny, but that's not overly helpful.
We debate options of me picking her up from Gloucester (it'll be almost quicker to walk according to Google), Cheltenham (have you tried getting to Cheltenham Spa in a car?), Worcester, Ledbury (no-one, including train staff, believes the train will get that far).
We settle on Worcester when the train finally moves away from Gloucester, and finally get to Hereford in good time, but hungry. Eventually found a hotel bar willing to serve a quick bowl of chips and a pint, and on to Messiah.
The programme had all the words (which is good because otherwise it's unintelligible, bar "Hallelujah"), but that does reveal quite how much violence the text advocates.
"Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished" . Hmmm. OK, so it was written nigh on 300 years ago, but even so.
