Colour on the beach
I cancelled the car's service in Exeter this morning. I didn't fancy driving in such windy conditions as Storm Darragh passes through. Instead I got settled into starting to sort out all the various Christmas preparations I had neglected. This started with me walking into town to buy some Christmas cards. I did wonder if the shops would be open. It was certainly very windy with fallen leaves swirling around as I walked past the park. The shops were open and as the woman inside said, they are used to high winds living by the sea. As it was the sea wasn't at all stormy mainly because the winds were coming from the opposite direction. It was quite pleasant walking along the beach although the wind has made it feel much colder than it actually is.
I quite liked the various colours of the boats set against the dull colours of the sea and sky. I continued my walk along to the estuary and caught sight of the kingfisher sitting on rocks where I had seen it a couple of weeks ago.
The rain started as I was walking back but we didn't really have that much. The wind however has been relentless throughout the day and night with strong gusts. So difficult for those with lack of power and flooding issues.
