Corporal Billy

Managed to get an interesting shot today of the regimental goat (note, not a mascot!) of the Royal Welch Fusiliers.

The tradition goes back to 1775, and the goat is currently at the rank of Corporal. There have been some interesting holders of this post, and worth reading about!!

His name is Billy, and he is the only serving member of the British Armed Forces still entitled to his cigarette ration - a total of two a day, which he eats, as its good for his digestion!!

Usually under very good control by the Goat Major, he can have his off moments, and has been known to nibble garden bushes and plants when bored.... On parade, he stands perfectly still and to attention! A total character indeed.
