The accidental finding

Storm Darragh and the Christmas tree

Storm Darragh was under way this morning, blowing like fury. I walked to S's. The rain stung as I made my way along the road. We talked for a while, then I suggested putting up the decorations, as they had been lying around for weeks, and clearly we weren't going anywhere today. It took us a while but we got the tree, bunting, mantelpiece and other sets of lights sorted, as well as putting aside a smaller tree and set of baubles and lights for S's sister.

Then we watched the Narnia film (the first one) while the wind howled. When I got home eventually, I started sorting out some spaces here, as I'll need to put up our own tree, do a bit of cleaning, and so on, and there's no use leaving it all until Christmas eve. My mother was on the last-minute end of the scale, hardly surprising, seeing as she had six children and a husband who was usually absent, but it doesn't mean I have to wait until the eleventh hour. Won't put the tree up tomorrow, because then it would stay up for almost one month, but I am preparing the ground.
