Everyday I Write The Book

Kitsch

I saw this in a garden centre yesterday morning and fell in love with it, so TSM presented it to me as a surprise today. Now there is good kitsch and there is bad kitsch and this is definitely good kitsch. I could stare at it for hours with child like wonder. Plus the idea of Santa in a telephone box evokes ideas of a seasonal episode of Dr Who. Santa in his own Tardis with perpetual snow.

We stayed in bed until midday today, two rounds of tea and a lot of catching up and chilling. This evening we were supposed to go to London to meet friends in St Martin's Lane but the weather was foul and the trains were FUBAR so we had to cancel. Have rearranged for next week.

Storm Darragh has been very unpleasant and caused a lot of problems. Winds of 93 mph reported on some Welsh hilltops. We stayed indoors and had faux chicken casserole and mince pies and watched two episodes of Black Dove, which has Ben Wishaw and Keira Knightly running around London killing people and engaging in witty badinage. At one point Knightly has to reset her own dislocated shoulder by slamming it against a wall, which Wishaw remarks is impressive. "You should have seen me the afternoon I pushed two human beings out of my vagina" retorts Knightly (mother of twins).

I have to say that today felt very festive, and not just because of Santa in the phonebox. Something relaxing about a day spent chilling together, even if it wasn't as energising as yesterday.
