Obligatory lemon cake
A chaotic, busy, fun and laughter-filled family day.
Granny always bakes a lemon cake when our eldest granddaughter, L, comes to visit. Normally I only have one cake iced and ready but, given the number of people in the house for our early Christmas celebration, I opted to ice both cakes that I made yesterday afternoon, and not freeze one. A good decision because one is nearly all gone already.
There have been six of us here today, but tomorrow there will be eleven because The Traveller’s girlfriend will also be here, along with our middle son and his family. They will be travelling here from Legoland, Windsor, although they nearly didn’t make the trip to Windsor because of Storm Darragh. They will hopefully arrive in time for lunch tomorrow and will overlap with our eldest son and his wife and daughter for a big family lunch, before the latter have to travel back to Hampshire mid-afternoon.
By tomorrow evening Smithers and I will be in need of a good long rest.
