100 years

A century ago Keighley’s War Memorial was dedicated. I know my grandad was there, the only time we believe he went as he tried not to remember the war.

Today I played last post at the centenary commemoration. Thankfully the forecast rain bypassed us, and the wind whilst gusting, didn’t have any major impact on it.

I don’t remember my Grandad, I was just 3 when he died, but I hope I did him proud today.

I also spent 45 minutes before this and 15 minutes after wards playing Christmas Carols with Keighley’s Salvation Army Community Band.

PS. This photo was taken before the civic dignitaries arrived - and most of the other attendees. I won’t use my phone once I’m ‘on duty’.
