Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band
With Storm Darragh brewing we popped down to Paignton to see Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band, the traditional the start of the 'end of the year celebrations'. Some younger people call this 'a gig', but it is more of a bunch of aging folkies reliving their youth, Mrs Sandy and I were in the lower quartile of the age range.
Hearing a restaurant full of mobile phones simultaneously receive the "end of the world as we know it" alert almost caused several heart attacks amongst the diners, many attending the gig.
I can only conclude that somebody in Government/The GPO/BT/Mobile Phone Operators skipped geography and has no idea what is west of Reading as we were sat on the SOUTH coast of Devon having understood that the area of the red wind warning was for NORTH Devonshire, specifically the Bristol Channel.
Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band were brilliant and am delighted to report that the T function in my hearing aids worked well.
As ever it was a delight to bump into old, in both meanings of the word, friends.
