World Premiere

We paid our first visit to the Fort Worth Symphony this year to hear my all time favorite symphony - Beethoven’s 3rd ‘Eroica’ but were treated to the world premiere of Earth 2.0 by Jake Heggie. A monodrama featuring the unbelievable voice of Key’mon Murray. I have heard a counter-tenor before but nothing as remarkable as this man singing with the same range as a female soprano. The piece was a wonderful poem set to 8 movements of music with 2 dancers. The theme covered the emerging earth and moved into the devastation of climate change and a cry to “cleanse me, cleanse me.” Quite moving. This was a surprise as the main event is about to happen in the second half. Anyway the Beethoven will be amazing but thought I would use the intermission to do my blip for a change.
