Peanut MIA
This is part of my search for Peanut. We last saw her nine hours ago when she went out this morning, and we haven’t seen her since. This is not like her; she’s never been gone this long. We fear that she may have fallen prey to a coyote or bobcat. We have searched our property, and others nearby, but no sign yet.
We are heartbroken at the moment. I am sitting at my chair, watching the back door, and hoping she will appear. When we got her, almost two years ago now, the adoption service stipulated she had to be an indoor cat. That lasted about six weeks. As many risks as there are out here in the country, there was no WAY that a wild cat like her would stay inside. So she lived on her terms, outside and inside. The saddest thing about it is she had become so affectionate with both of us while she was inside now. Last night, she spent the evening stretched out in Tom’s lap, and this morning before she went out, she shared the couch with me, sleeping in the warmth of our wood fire. She loved (loves) our house and grounds. She and I had a special bond when we were in the garden, and I hope for more of those days.
Fingers are still crossed that she will show up. We really miss her already. I know that many of you blippers have enjoyed watching the antics of this one of a kind kitty. My strongest hope is that we can share more.
