20th Anniversary RBL Riders Branch

November 2004 saw the creation of the Royal British Legion Riders Branch by the 14 founding members in Cheltenham, just about 7 miles from our house.
So that makes it our 20th anniversary year marked with a number of items including cloth patches, an engraved hip flask (I don't drink!), a commemorative coin and a couple of commemorative pins. I went for one of the pins with the branch standard design with the inscription "2004 - 20 years - 2024" at the bottom. So the blip is the pin which I've just added to my leather 'cut'.
I didn't have any photographs today so I thought it might make a good blip and the story to go with it.
And what do we do? we ride all year round, not so much  in the winter of course, raising money for the RBL Poppy Appeal.
In this, our 20th year, we have exceeded a target, set at the beginning of 2024, of two million pounds (£2,000,000). In fact we have exceeded it by an incredible £9,742.30.
This is achieved by having a stand at county shows (Vintage, Steam, etc), manning stands during the poppy appeal period Oct-Nov. We also attend veterans funerals (one of which I arranged today for the 20th) to escort the funeral cortege with riders stopping traffic at junctions and roundabouts to enable smooth transition of the cortege, riding to memorials, commemorations etc. We also have breakfast ride-outs to various biker café's making it a social event for us and I arrange monthly meetings to discuss what is coming up in the next weeks and months, I being the County Representative for Gloucestershire. It keeps me busy and active, as if I don't have enough of that with the twins HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Website for any interested bikers - We have a number of lady riders too so you'd all be welcome to join us.  :-)
