A rose in winter

Another day of catching up, partly in preparation for Nik's arrival next Friday - this is Richard's eldest son, now settled in New Zealand, and due to visit the UK for the first time since 2013. We speak on WhatsApp video most weeks; having him to stay for a whole month will be a real treat.
A short circuit around the garden revealed a rambling rose still in flower; the blueberry bushes, too, have buds and a few tiny open flowers.
