Madeira Christmas

You’ll not be bombarded by adverts from September.

You’ll just enjoy the public celebrations as the day itself grows closer.

They did start to put up some of the lights earlier this year, but the switching on ceremony was well into December.

It is a truly religious part of the world. Churches, and indeed the Cathedral, are usually pretty full for services. The Christmas Nativity scenes are beautifully built in many of the towns and villages.

(Yes, the touristy areas are a bit more vulgar, I was disappointed yesterday at Ponta de Sol.)

My blip is of the delightful display near the Cathedral. ( I do remember when real sheep were used.)

My extras were taken yesterday evening, when I ventured into town with a friend to see the lights.

It doesn’t feel tacky and silly to wish people a lovely Christmas. So, have a wonderful one, my blipfriends xx
