Alfie

Looking chilled. I was a bit torn between Alfie and Matto Pizza on Morningside Road which I've got as an extra, all dressed up for Christmas. Alfie won as I just really liked this photo of him and I don't think I've already blipped one quite like it.

I blipped Matto's on my way to the Cameo to see Small Things Like These, about a Magdalene laundry in Ireland, seen from the point of view of a coal merchant who discovers what is going on there. I've been meaning to see for a while as I read the book for my literature class and it was one of the few books that everyone thought well of. It was a sad, sad film, sadder than the book which a friend had warned me about. The book was by no means a bundle of laughs, but I think there were some lighter moments, or at least the sadness was diluted a bit by more detail about the coal merchant's family.
