From Zion to Mammon

I happened to pass this old Methodist chapel today. It never reopened after lockdown.
It surprised me how sad its downward transformation made me feel.
It used to have a low wall & small garden in front, with steps up to the original grand door. As I child I went there and saw my grandparents in the choir.
Now it’s a temple to cheap vodka & even cheaper bread.
