I had been hoping for a walk in the snow today but we awoke it was all gone :-(. However on a more positive note it did mean that the builder could come and fill in the gable ends of the garage :-).

I spent much of  today catching up with my crafting advent calendar. This is the third year I have done this one and as before it if fun doing min-projects and trying different techniques. The tree proved trickier than expected due to working with a silkier wool but good to learn.

I also prepared a short piece on the meaning behind Loch Loch which is a long hike in from the Kirkmichael Road. This is for the Place Names of Scotland course I am doing  - next Tuesday is the final one and we can give a short piece (5 mins or less) if we wish. I have chosen to explore Loch Loch.  It was an interesting exercise in applying some of the theory we have been taught which took me from a prosaic explanation (it is called so because it looks like two lochs) to a one shrouded in the mists of time - it is actually Loch Lòch (with a strac on the second o) which means dark loch a ... or does it ?  I has read some papers it is possible that the more prosaic one is correct. Given that the papers were written by our tutor I shall find out next week.
