Arrival

PY is on the island. I headed there this evening, but I only bought my ticket as I was on the way to Waterloo to catch the Portsmouth train. I was writing a document and was very tempted to skip the train I usually aim for (the 5:30 pm departure) and go an hour later. But that hour makes quite a big difference. Instead of getting to the flat at about 8 pm and feeling like there is still some evening left, it would be 9 pm. So, I made an effort – grabbed some food from the fridge that might go off while we were away – and did my usual short hop from one platform to platform 11 via the coffee outlet and was on the front carriage for arrival into Portsmouth. On the way, I listened to a podcast by Richard Osman, The Introvert Behind The TV Star & Bestselling Author. It was an episode of The High-Performance podcast. It was very engaging. I highly recommend it.

The ferry was quite busy. It's incredible how the people disperse, and the pier can seem quite empty as you walk down it. A quiet evening in the flat watching old Top of the Pops episodes followed by a Tina Turner concert. It was one of those things where we were going to watch for a few minutes and change channels. But we stayed with it.
