Pickles

My desk was my dad's study for the day. I tried to persuade PY to take it, but he said he was happy at the dining room table, even though we had to put the fan heater on for him when it got cold in the middle of the morning. He did get a view of Mum and Dad's garden and could watch the robot lawnmower, which Dad seems to have fixed. I don't know if he spent any time watching it.

At 5 pm, Dad brought me a glass of wine. I decided to finish work before packing up and settling in by the fire to drink it. Afterwards, PY and I took a walk to Asda – mainly for the walk – but we did buy some flowers and wine for Mum and Dad.

Mum had cooked a Lancashire hotpot for dinner, complete with mushy peas and pickled cabbage. She has this pot for pickled onions, which is always stocked. I take after my mum in love for pickled onions – even though I have to be careful they don't give me indigestion. I did see one of these pots for sale a few months ago, but I can't remember where. I love it and should have bought it when I saw it. The pudding was apple pie and custard. It was a homemade feast.
