The Handsome One
i.e. the Great Spotted Woodpecker.
He never stays long, so it's great to catch him on camera. And he always eats on the same ball. Go figure.
The squirrels have eaten almost all nuts on the sacks, so I asked my husband to buy few more of these hanging food sacks. All seems to think these are the best out there. I put out the oats my husband bought last weekend. I didn't want to put the bundle out to the rain, but this sunny, cold day was a good day for that.
I have five places in the backyard where there's food for the birds. As there's also the squirrel squat, I want the little birds to have other choices when they arrive. It's nice to see them finding the new "hidden" foods around the yard. Different birds choose different places and foods. Some are so timid that they won't come to the hanging feeding station, but they enjoy the bird feeder on the tree stump. That's as close as they'll ever come.
Since we are located right next to the woods, I'm seeing birds that I've never seen before. And that's a thrill. I have a set of binoculars on the living room table, so I can identify the birds further apart. This feeding station in all the pictures, is the closest one to our house, so I can just sit next to the window, with a coffee in my hand and try to catch the visitors on camera.
Next to work. I'm exhausted in spite of resting most of the day yesterday. Today I'll be alone for the evening and then I'll continue with the night nurse for one hour. We'll do all the heavy lifting during that hour. Which means we'll change the diapers on all the floors where it's needed before the night nurse continues alone. This is new and due to all the cuts. There used to be two night nurses, but now only one. I don't envy them. Not at all.
