Stuff and Nonsense

Fieldfare #77

We had a good day out at RSPB Marshside and WWT Martin Mere.
We located the Southport Snow Bunting after about 30 seconds of reaching the sand near the pier.  If my husband had had his way, we'd have turned around and gone home after 10 minutes - mission accomplished!

It didn't take long to persuade him that that was not going to happen :)

Disappointingly, there were very few birds at the hides at Marshside, so we quite quickly moved on to Martin Mere, which is only a few minutes drive away.  Some nice sunshine and hundreds of ducks, geese and swans in front of the Discovery hide was a good start.
No Kingfisher today and the marsh harriers were quite distant, but there were plenty of other birds to see including this Fieldfare. I've not seen more than a distant fieldfare this year so far, so it was nice to see this one reasonably close.
Some nice light, but we couldn't stay for sunset as we needed to get back for hubby's games night. Maybe another day :)
