Pensthorpe

We had a drive over to Pensthorpe this morning for a walk around the grounds.  Quite cold and damp so we didn't do the full walk around the lake but still managed to spend quite a while ambling around.  The Cranes were hiding from us so we only got a glimpse of them behind some bushes but the Flamingos weren't so shy and were on full display.

There used to be a Red Squirrel conservation project here, breeding squirrels for release into the wild.  The programme was so successful that it was no longer needed so closed down a couple of years ago.   Where the enclosures were has now been transformed into a small sculpture park and I really liked the metal dandelion seed heads I've included in the extras.  I've also included an extra of an Avocet, just because I still have a few extras to use up before the end of the year.
