Wet Woods by the Water

A grey and wet December day - although still not very cold. However, Lanthwaite Woods, despite lack of leaves, continue their green theme with ground cover, mosses and lichens. A nice backdrop to today's swim.  Thirteen very invigorating minutes in still water before numbness set in, needing a brisk walk back to the car park to get circulation flowing to the extremities again.
Then there was a bit more exercise heaving a friend's car back and forth out of its parking space in an attempt a jump start. A National Trust Ranger, with leads, kindly helped but after a few tries it was obvious the car had decided that the woods were good enough for it to spend time in too.
My friend and his 2 dogs bounded into my car and we were off to Lorton shop to drink warming lattes, meet up with his wife and decide their plan of action with all the other customers. Village shops provide so much more than goods.
