Burne-Jones at Tabley House Chapel
A few of us from work were taken on a guided tour of Tabley House near Knutsford. We were not strangers to the guide as it was one of our colleagues, Sarah, who is a volunteer at the house and has been for nearly 10 years. She's a brilliant guide and certainly knows her stuff about the house and family history. So much so that she wrote an article about the history of the house which was published in a local history journal - Cheshire History.
This is a Burne-Jones stained glass window in St Peter's Chapel. The original chapel was built in the 17th Century. It was moved to its present location in 1927 when the foundations of both the Chapel and the Old Hall were undermined by brine-pumping.
