On This Day

La Pasionaria

The statue of  Dolores Ibárruri by the Clyde. It is also a memorial to the people who went to fight fascism in Spain,  65 of whom from Glasgow lost their lives. It could do with a spruce up I think but it's a glorious monument.

I'm off to my son's house to fulfil my birthday promise to him. His birthday is in June and I said then that I'd offer him some gardening time. I did some last month and the current mild weather allows me to give it another go today. Then that'll be it for the year I think.

Trains are hopeless on a Sunday but the long wait between them gave me a chance to walk along by the river.
