Luxembourg Lights
We took ourselves off on a trip in the morning - tram and bus to Echternach. All public transport is free in Luxembourg which is amazing; it’s also clean, efficient and runs on time. Goodness only knows what they think of our transport system when they come to the UK!
Echternach is near the German border so we walked over a bridge to say we’d been in Germany! It’s also in a valley so it was misty and absolutely freezing for most of the time we were there, but the sky did clear to beautiful blue skies before we left. There were old streets and a huge abbey to look in and a small local market with food, Gluwein, music and a warming brazier. Lovely atmosphere.
We spent the afternoon walking around a different part of Luxembourg City, along the river and through old streets. It’s very pretty.
Then back to the hotel late afternoon for our free birthday drinks :)
A quick rest and then back out for dinner and a walk round the Christmas markets and lights. It looks extra magical at night but it was absolutely freezing!!
We covered another 25,000 steps today. We’ve seen so much in two days and it’s been a wonderful birthday treat.
Back to the UK tomorrow for some more celebrations.
