Hummer Moth
I was re-filling my bird bath when I saw the clear-winged hummer moth. By the time I got my camera...she was gone. I decided to brave the mosquito onslaught, and see if she went out to the back forty.
I found several moths, and...and...and, (wait for it)...2 REAL HUMMERS! I NEVER SEE HUMMERS!
I wish my excitement matched the quality of the pictures I took. The lighting was too dark, the focus was too slow, and the hummers were acting very hummery. But, still fun to witness.
The hummer moths are not much more co-operative. They flit about like they have an appointment somewhere. Why can't they just hit one bee balm flower, and stay there?
I have put one final Flickr set together. It includes a few more lighthouse shots, and scenes from my drive across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The set also has one bad picture of my hummingbird...proof that I got it. DRIVE HERE to see the set.
I plan some quality Blip time tonight...trying to catch up.
