Buttons
I planned to sew a button on a pyjama top, a process which entailed searching the button tin for a replacement.
Now, my button tin is actually two tins, one containing all those spare buttons supplied by garment manufacturers for clothes long-since disposed of, still in their little bags or packets. Also sets for garments I never got round to making.
The other tin is mainly the muddle of oddments - those purchased for no particular purpose, purely because I liked them and those cut off items consigned to the ragbag, dungaree clasps, even the screws that were used to hold together the seat and table for the baby chair, now given away on local social media - you get the picture - and, of course, the favourites I brought from my mother's button tin (believe me, her tin was massive).
So you'll appreciate how long it takes to scrummage through all this in search of a single white button of the correct size, shape and hue, reminiscing over those familiar or favourite and you will not be surprised to hear that I have yet to put needle and thread to fabric.
However, we have wrapped the Christmas presents ready for posting so the day has not been wasted.
