Lest We Forget
Today was cold and very grey again so we only headed out for a quick spot of lunch at The King & Queen at East Malling. At this time of year the little village green opposite the pub always has a Remembrance display. It may be modest in scale but I always find it so poignant and wanted to capture it for today's blip.
It is a stark reminder of those who sacrificed their lives in the defence of democracy and against those who seek to impose tyranny, dictatorship or unleash the forces of fascism. I think it also highlights how some people seem now only too happy to give away hard earned rights and freedoms in their own selfish and utterly blinkered self interest by voting for modern day dictators and fascists in the making. Shame on them that they seem only too willing to forget, or turn a deliberate blind eye, to the lessons of history.
