Practice . . .

. . . is what I need; and I managed a little today.  I was trying to master the use of flash and a wireless trigger.  This little model was just right for trying to narrow down the exposure to the subject while leaving as much of the rest as possible in shadow.  The depth of field came secondary to my experimentation, hence the soft elements.

It sort of worked, but needed some fettling in Capture One after importing the Raw file.  At least I got the wireless trigger to work, although the wireless control of the power of the flash seemed a little hit or miss.

Perhaps the weather, and my cold, will encourage a bit more outdoors tomorrow.
