Sky High
Literally and figuratively ...
"Aunty Robyn" arrived down yesterday to spend some time with the kids. First stop this morning, the ski shop. Very generously the kids got new sets of gear, well, Hannah got Adams old gear, and he got new skis and boots. VERY lucky kids!
Coincidentally we'd been watching some Jossie Wells videos in the morning, and the ski man recommended twin tips. Cool said Adam, now I can ski backwards. Watch the video, Jossie does more than just ski backwards ...
Wanaka was cloudy and drizzly, the infamous Wanaka inversion. But as we drove up the mountain we ascended thru the fog to THE most glorious day.
Onto the lifts we jumped, and Hannah set the tone by skiing over a large bank a few times larger than herself. Umm, she survived (by skiing down it), we had to laugh, cautiously ... New skis, no fear ....
After that more control was called for, and both she and Adam did fantastically. Both excelling in new and better gear. By the end of the day Adam had mastered skiing backwards (like Jossie). Tomorrow, parallel turns. After that, who knows!
We then descended back into the gloom. To the spa pool, and wine (for the adults ;-)
BTW, this is Hannah at the end of the day, Queenstown under that cloud.
