The Last Hurrah!
It was our last day in Wanaka today and tomorrow we fly to Sydney. Nothing like leaving the biggest adventure until our last day and we were not disappointed. We booked two e-bikes so that we could do the Lake Hawea to Wanaka Trail and it was spectacular. It’s a 35km ride through some of the most magnificent scenery you could ever wish to see. The colour of the water in the river was a truly transparent aquamarine and often we would stop just to take it all in. Half way to Albert Town we stopped to take pics of the surfers surfing the natural wave in the river. I’ve added an extra as it was really spectacular and very entertaining. I’ve also added one of Mauzee trying to tempt me into indulging in a very impressive Vanilla Slice. Happy to say I said NO. Pembroke Pattiserie is quite famous and a great place to stop on the 35km ride. The coffee was wonderful. All in all an incredible way to spend our last day in NZ. Let’s hope we have a safe and seamless flight back to Sydney tomorrow and then a couple of days later we’ll be back in the Wild West!
