Luna Vet

Angie was out late afternoon & evening so I was to do the evening walk. Normally when I call her, she dashes to me barking away, full of joy. But today, nothing. Found her in (one of) her bed looking very sorry for herself & for the first time ever in 12 years, growled at me when I tried to get her to stand up.

Phoned Angie who said she had noticed Luna acting strangely. Recently vet had changed the painkillers she's on & we decided the best bet was to go to a vet & get painkillers which we knew she tolerated. However it was now nearly 6:30pm & the only vet we knew that was open was good 25km away, the other side of Memmingen. Luckily Luna did get up & walk gingerly to the car & we flew down the autobahn, getting to the vet, who I had never been to or knew, at 6:55. Very luckily, waiting room empty and we were seen staight away. Quick x-ray confirmed probably tumour causing the pain but only ultrasound would give a clear picture. They could di that tomorrow, but didn't recommend it as there was no hope of operating/treating it. Just have to do our best to reduce the pain. She was given two painkiller jabs and got a good supply of the painkiller tablets we wanted. She picked up after we had been home for a few hours.
