A monochrome day in the Midlands

The blip is of dead sunflowers at Hillers garden centre, frost-rimed and dessicated. It is actually a colour shot but the diffuse and low intensity sunlight has bled out what little colour was available in the scene. 

"You thought the leaden winter
Would bring you down for ever
But you rode upon a steamer
To the violence of the sun"

These lines from 'Tales of Brave Ulysses' by the band Cream came into my head as I took the shot. They refer to Byron, as he fled England for his famous sojourn in Greece. If only....
