Brown hare

A half grown leveret eating the weeds in my lawn this morning.

A couple of years ago, a hare parked her two leverets in our garden every day while she was out in the fields, and came to suckle them every evening just as it got dark. The leverets played in the flower beds and slept under the rhubarb leaves. That was the year that Mr HCB's lettuces in the vegetable garden were trimmed like a neat hedge every morning. But, who cares, I'd rather watch a hare than eat a lettuce any day!
