Mossy
We were raking leaves on a new property today, she wanted a wooded area in the front yard raked, as the leaves blow from there into the shrubs by her front door. Lots of moss thru the wooded area.
The client had called me in the spring about coming out to do a spring cleanup. I called her with a quote, but she never called me back. She is a senior and not comfortable using a computer. I heard from her again a couple of weeks ago, she wanted us to come out and rake some leaves. Her grandson stays in the house with her, he is in his late 20's/early 30's. She had asked me to haul all the leaves away too, which meant about a 1.5 hour round trip to the dump. Albert, myself and 3 workers were there. When I went to the dump, I took a worker with me and left Albert and 2 workers there to continue raking.
During the time we were there the grandson was in and out. He drove his truck to the neighbor's house across the street, when he returned he parked at his father's place which is next door. While I was gone he moved his truck back to his grandmother's driveway.
When we finished loading the truck the second time I got the invoice ready. While my client was writing out a cheque, the grandson wanted to know how much it cost. Then he complained that it was too expensive, and he used the 'f' word a few times. His grandmother pushed him out of the way when she went to her desk to write the cheque. He kept looking over her shoulder as she wrote the cheque. I just calmly stood there and kept my thoughts to myself. I really wanted to ask him why he was not out raking leaves for his grandmother. Or if he is just a lazy thing that lives off handouts from his parents and his grandmother.
When I left, my client said she would call me in the spring. Her grandson tells her 'No, you won't. It is much too expensive'. She was ignoring him. We'll see what happens in the spring.
I used to live across the lake from where we were working, so when I was eating my sandwich, I walked around back to see if I could see where I used to live. I could see the house, it is almost directly across the lake. I remember watching the fireworks display that someone across the lake put on for New Years Eve 2009. This lady was not living there at the time, so it must have been one of her neighbors.
