Aberdeen Harbour

Today I took the bus from Perth to Aberdeen and back to have my hair cut. It was seriously overdue, as the last cut was in May, 6 months ago.

I'd been assured that my hair would fall out with the chemotherapy in the summer and I was given a very stylish NHS wig beforehand. However, I opted to use the scalp cooling treatment on offer and am very pleased to report that although I did lose hair a bit at a time I still have a full head of hair and the wig has never had an outing. Now I am feeling more dynamic I was delighted to get a last minute cancellation with my very favourite hairdresser from the days when we actually lived near Aberdeen. I love my new haircut - it feels like 'me' again. The cancer is as 'gone' as 2 lots of surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy. hormone injections and tablets can achieve, so I consider myself extremely lucky. Now it's time to start seeing friends and family again and catch up on a lot of other stuff, not to mention giving the house a good spring clean.

I love the fact that Aberdeen Harbour is right in the middle of the city, as it was in the days of sail powered fishing boats. Now it is full of oil supply boats some splendidly coloured in the winter sunshine.
