We have another
day of grey skies to contend
with - unYuma-like!

My coffee lasted until after 8 this morning. Then I was off to the local library for its opening at 9 AM.

I was there to submit a painting for the 9th Annual Art and Poetry event. I had participated in the first three, then, somehow, lost momentum. This one I named "The Painted Lady of Tacna" featuring a dilapidated truck in front of an abandoned trailer.

This year, the artists submit their work, a poet selects one to write a poem, then both are displayed together in a public exhibit at the library. Viewers choice will determine which art and poem combination best suit one another.

This event was started by one of our very talented painters who worked at the library. She has now moved on as a professional artist but she has left this legacy to continue.

The Foothills Library is one in a chain that serves Yuma. This branch is about a dozen years old with great views of the mountains. It is just several blocks from my home.

The weather is glum with flags drooping. I'm home with thoughts to cut some fabric or try my new sketchbook.
