firefighting

After work today, I did the weekly shop (although there might be more shopping to do as the numbers of mouths to be fed in our household is soon to quadruple, albeit temporarily).

Lidl is next door to Dumfries Fire Station, and this is the hose drying/drill tower. When the new fire station opened in 1958, there wasn’t enough money available for a tower, so it was added on later.

I’m sitting in front of my own fire right now, thinking that if it got out of control, the house would probably be a smoking ruin before the firefighters reached us. Hopefully the risk of that happening is very small…
