Today's mission was to beat my previous record of 64 geocaches in a day. So, Heather & I planned two circuits covering over 12 miles which gave us 91 caches to have a crack at. As we walked through Fermyn Woods we couldn't even attempt some of the caches as the area was covered in muggles with binoculars and cameras. After talking to some of them, we found out that they were on the look out for Apatura iris or the Purple Emperor butterfly. The butterfly is quite rare in the UK but today's hot, dry conditions are perfect & these woods are one of the best places to catch a glimpse of the huge butterfly.

As we wandered down one path we could see two guys who had spotted a male butterfly & they were busy photographing it. So we snook in with our cameras too before carrying on with our walk.

Over 12 miles and 31424 steps later we finished the day with 83 smileys, 4 DNFs and 4 that we didn't even look for.
