Harz - Wernigerode, day 2/3
After a good night sleep, I knocked on Richards door at 08:00 and we had breakfast by candlelight together.
We're in a small pension (14 rooms) and it's not too crowded. We were the only ones until 08:25 when another man came in for breakfast.
When we were filled up with deliciousnesses, we got into the car and drove to Steinerne Renne nearby. We parked and the hiked for a small 20 minutes, up the mountain Brocken. We then found our first destination around 09:40: A nice curve in the tracks of the railway "Brockenbahn steam train".
According to the time table the first steam train would pass by at 10:08.
We killed the thirty minutes with finding the best spot and setting our cameras.
The train came and went right on time, and we had our pictures! Yes! This location has been on my wishlist for quite a while and now all of a sudden that box was ticked.
Unfortunately Richard had some problems with buffering his continuous shooting. He'd missed the decisive moments. What a pity, but not a disaster. Another train would pass by around 11:05.
We decided to capture that one as well. But first we walked back to the car to get Richards drone. He wanted to capture it on film as well.
After a firm walk back and forth we were back on track right on time.
The second series of steam train photos was made! Perfect.
In the afternoon we visited Drahtzug, and a beautiful waterfall in the woods. And during sunset we were at the Teufelsmauer (Devil's Wall) but due to lack of light I didn't take my camera out at all there.
Diner was had in Wernigerode, in a Greek restaurant. Delicious!
