You ain't nothing but a hound dog.....
Nipper was a dog featured in an 1898 painting by Francis Barroud which became an iconic corporate logo. Nipper had famously recognised the voice of his deceased master, Barroud’s brother, on the gramophone. Although Barroud failed to interest music publishing companies in the painting, it was later adopted by both The Gramophone Company (EMI) and RCA.
The main shot is of a 1957 version of the logo. (Uhu!) The extra from a classical LP, shows him off even better.
Nipper was a smooth fox terrier, a breed which I have learned is now 97% in decline.
