Fireglow
My fireglow is SOOO red.
I think the adrenaline from yesterday’s shaving gave Samuel an energy and cognitive boost today.
The US said Ukraine could use ATACMS in Russia. Britain said Ukraine can use Storm Shadows in Russia. Now France is saying Ukraine can use SCAlPs to bomb Russia.
I mentioned previously that the Institute for the Study of War had identified about 200 targets within the range of ATACMS and Storm Shadows and wondered if letting Ukraine use the weapons would mean that Ukraine could win. The area Rostov has the highest concentration of targets. This is where Russian soldiers deploy from. Ukraine might start targeting this region. Now - an example of news deception - I don’t see news reports saying that they have but I do see at least two headlines that suggest they have. For example, “Ukraine’s missile strikes take aim at Russian Rostov region.” If you only look at headlines you think they’ve done so, not that they might, not that the Wall Street Journal thinks they will.
Not good news - article in Business Insider points out that we now know it isn’t enough to have the coolest, most sophisticated weapons, we need to have lots and lots of weapons. Russia had demonstrated, in humiliating fashion, that much of their weaponry is …. Oversold, exaggerated, crap. But they keep fighting, because they have lots and lots of it. And lots of people. And they are all expendable. The US has invested in the best of the best, but it is expensive, so we don’t have a lot. We need to invest in surge capacity. If we go to war and win quickly, great. If we don’t win quickly we will have used up all our fancy gear. Expect the West to begin investing in weapon manufacturing capacity. Many experts believe that if Russia wins in Ukraine they will attack others in Europe in a few years.
I wrote that grocery stores in Russia are locking butter in cabinets? There is footage of a break-in where one robber rushes to the cash register and the other one runs to the fridge and steals butter.
