Camp ovening cooking.
It was K's birthday and they had a party. All the meat & vegetables (rump steak, chickens, leg of lamb, & pork roasts, plus potatoes, pumpkin, & sweet potato) cooked in these. Plus salads, bread rolls etc.
They get a good fire going, then put a pile of embers on the ground, then the oven is put on those, then more hot embers are placed on top of the lids. The lids have a lip around the outside, so that the embers stay in place. Cooking progress is checked regularly, and more embers put around the ovens are required.
The food is really tasty cooked in these, & the fire is a plus for the coolness of the evening. It gets quite a bit colder when the sun goes down.
