Resplendent Quetzal

I took this photo on my phone in a forest in Costa Rica in March. Right place, right time. I had decided not to do too much walking but we got a 4x4 halfway up a mountain in CR. We are bird watchers so had been on the lookout for this bird but I was 3 weeks post Op so not over doing it. My husband & guide went off from here to walk into an area about 1km away. We had heard about tourists pushing and shoving to see one of these birds down the mountain at the hotel early in the morning. All this took the "shine" off seeing the bird as we prefer natural environment and not pushing to get a photo. I was standing chatting to an American couple while they were having a rest and in flew this chap! Soon after the female flew in and they perched on a tree near here. Funny thing was I actually saw the bird before hubby that had gone off with the guide! He did one it soon after so we were both lucky! The bird is the National Bird of Guatemala and is called Resplendent Quetzal.
I haven't been posting lately as I've been unwell. Hoping to join members of walking group tomorrow for lunch after I've been to hospital appointment.
