The accidental finding

Postcard from Port Sunlight

We woke in Hoole, Chester, and set about packing, after a quick breakfast of a banana. Sadly, Elsoeth does not love breakfast and I couldn't persuade her to accompany me to a cafe for a sarnie before she hit the road. She headed off in the van and I went up to the hardware store to buy a bungee to attach my extra bag to my suitcase! I may have have bought a few Christmas presents during my short visit to Chester.

I did a bit more shopping in Hoole and had a coffee in a cafe that did not serve gluten free food. Walked up to the station. I was far too early, and there was a bus that served the  town from the station, but I was overloaded so  I just had a tea on the platform and waited for the train, which was the first of many to be delayed because of Storm Bert, which has caused widespread flooding in England and Wales ( and possibly all four nations). All the trains were in the wrong places....

The journey was tedious. I won't bore you with the details. Suffice to say it took five hours nstead of three, and I am still confused by Birmingham new street station.

Got home about 5.45. Have had a bath. That feels better!

The postcard is one of a few I bought in Port Sunlight yesterday. I wrote some in the cafe this morning, and posted them in the PO next door.
