Carrying on a tradition

My grandmother always had African violets on her windowsill and I have tried to carry on her violet legacy. My mom used to tell me to put a rusty nail in the soil and I’ve always read that they don’t like wet feet. My success has come from using self watering terra cotta pots. I have about 15 plants and they bloom at different times so I always have some color.
