Up up and away … again

This time in Russ’ shared plane.

We had a wonderful evening catching up with Russ, Amy and the kids !but got to bed early as we had another early start. This time to go flying with Russ!

Russ is a pilot, used to fly with Cathay, they also left HK a little after us. He wanted to show us Port Macquarie from the sky.

It was a very kind thing he did for us, we so enjoyed it. We had to go up one at a time, as it’s a 2-seater.

Both Martin and I got to fly the plane for a bit, which was super fun!

We then walked along the esplanade to find a breakfast spot. While we were having our breakfast, a lady came up to our table and asked if we were from Hong Kong … she proceeded to take off her hat and sunnies and reveal that she was a friend from way back when we first arrived in HK. Goodness me .. they left HK in 2008 to move to LA. And here we were all ex-HKers in a cafe in Port Macquarie.

We relaxed in the afternoon, as we were pretty tired from a few early starts. Russ and Martin went for a walk while Amy and I chatted.

Dinner was at an Asian fusion restaurant which was just lovely. Martin ordered a cocktail with a weird name, Fissy Floo, which was apparently name after the owner’s daughter. It was delicious, but what a name!

Then a bit more walking around the city where we bought dessert … yummy gelato ice cream.

Back home for a game of Pass the Pigs and finally. We’ve had a wonderful visit with our dear friends and it was so good to talk about familiar things again and how it was the right decision to leave HK when we all did.

Tomorrow, the long drive home!
