Change
Woke to a bright morning with not a flake of snow still in evidence…just back to bright sunshine and no clouds in the sky.
I’d taken such a long time to get to sleep last night, not sure why, but felt ok first thing so just got up and headed down to town enjoying the sunshine on the way to the craft fair in the. National Gallery. I saw a chance to get a good shot of Calton Hill in the sun and walked over to the top of the News Steps….only to find hundreds of padlocks all the way down the fence by the steps. Very odd….I had no idea that was a thing here in Edinburgh and had never seen them before (but then I very rarely use these steps).
The craft fair was very good in terms of the quality of things on sale but it was all rather more high end than what I was looking for. Bumped into @annejohn as we were looking around and we decided to carry on browsing then meet up for coffee a bit later. We had a good chat and then realised we were both going to John Lewis’ so walked through the gardens to get there…simultaneously intrigued and repelled by the high flying chairs and the rest of the Christmas market.
I changed my previous purchase quickly then had a little browse around the shop and a couple of others (I’d like a pair of wool/tweed type trousers but can’t see any anywhere, in shops or online. Unfortunately I seem to have taken the pair I used to have to the charity shop…that’s the danger of doing clear outs!). T phoned as I was looking around…he was driving as usual, this time collecting the last of his things to move them to Bournemouth. Lots to chat about and made a few plans for December and January.
Came home and FaceTimed K, looked up some vegan recipes for the weekend and nearly fell asleep on the sofa, then did some reading for a meeting tomorrow and made a spiced roasted chicken for supper. Watched the first episode of the next series of Bad Sisters, but I’m off to bed now and it’s only just 9pm…tired out!
