Kraal

This network meeting has been very positive so far, I’ve met various familiar faces and I’m building some nice connections from Tanzania, Mozambique and beyond.

Late afternoon we participated in a field excursion to see work being undertaken to reduce conflict between livestock keepers and wild carnivores. A research project and local NGO is working with community members living in high wildlife areas to improve kraals (Afrikaans for enclosures) and provide better protection from lion attacks. Pictured is a decrepit abandoned kraal that has been replaced out of a shot by a much more robust structure and which is so far yielding positive results. Coexistence always has to be the name of the game in landscapes such as this.
